I purchased my home in July 2006 for $390k and have a 1st mortgage for $312k and a equity line for $40k. As a result of making mimimum pymts on my 1st, I know owe $321k and have a pre-pay penalty of $10k for a total of $376k owing on the property. I have been told that I could only sell the home now for approx. $370k and would need another $30-40k just to relieve myself of the property. I experienced a fianancial set=back earlier this year and was on disability and unpaid leave. I no longer can afford the payments on the home.
